Bu that really just looks like a work-around around some weird bahaviour of UML. I'd really prefer if UML could be fixed to either support a VC or not support a VC, but please not "half support" it, by exposing /dev/tty0 which is supposed to point to the foreground VC but in this case actually points to some other place that isn't really clear what it is.
