Thanks for the reply. I don't really know why my distro (Arch Linux) included pam_env.so in the auth stack, and the only explanation I can find online is here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/200595. I checked my other machine running Ubuntu and the sudo PAM stack indeed uses the session type for pam_env.so.
However, my question is not about how each distribution configures it. Instead, I'm asking why the PAM stack used by run0 doesn't include the pam_env.so module. Thank you. Regards, Mike
