NORDIC COUNTRIES PROTEST DECISION TO CUT SOTOMAYOR'S BAN STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Sweden, Denmark and Norway decided Sunday to file a joint protest over the IAAF's controversial decision to reduce world high jump record-holder Javier Sotomayor's doping suspension. "We just made an unanimous decision," Swedish Track and Field Federation chairman Bengt Westerberg said in a telephone interview from Uppsala, where the board was meeting after the national championships. Finland also was likely to join the Nordic protest, Antti Pihlakoski, secretary general of the Finnish federation, said from Helsinki. The initiative came from Denmark's track federation last week, the day after Sotomayor made his comeback in a French meet.
