The Electronic Telegraph Thursday 27 July 2000 The Kenya Amateur Athletics Association (KAAA) has refused to reinstate the three marathon runners they axed from their Olympic squad. Moses Tanui, Elijah Lagat and Japheth Kosgei were originally selected for Sydney but then dropped at the weekend and replaced with a new trio. KAAA general secretary David Okeyo said they had become complacent while training, but Tanui and Lagat, who finished first and second in their country's trials, claim that the decision was "based purely on personal grounds and not any reason related to training."
