You know just when I think that the BS on the list can get no worse it does. For
someone to openly imply that sprinters should quit school and that schools Div 1
schools in the south in particular should quit school is crazy! First of all there
have not been an over abundance of sprinters that have come out of southern schools
since Dennis Mitchell. Second of all the problem with sprinters in this country is
that they don't have enough sense to stay with the coaches who develop them. I find
it very interesting that people on this list, who have never coached a sprinter a day
in their lives, are know the authority on sprints in this country. How dare you
question the ability of Clyde Hart or any of the other of the colligate coaches in
this country who work very hard to develop there athletes and at the same time help
them get an education. So you guys have the answer, tell the athletes to drop out of
school, so now what do they do if or when they get hurt? You guys wa!
nt to blow the horn of these coaches who are coaching great athletes, why not try
looking a little deeper and look at some of the coaches in this country who are
developing athletes the one's who are taking the guys from 10.4 to 10.1 only to have
someone come along and steal the athlete from them and take credit for making them
great. If you guys want to criticize something why not criticize the problems we have
in America in distance running. The US has and will continue to win medals in the
sprints and the products of those medals and the times run will not only come out of
just two camps. Open your eyes people the US is alive and well when it comes to the
sprints and there are more than two people in this country who can coach the sprints.
I suggest that none of you quit your day jobs.

Franno,
Are you being paid to market HSI?
So what if HSI does well? What do you expect with an enclave of extremely
highly talented athletes and an excellent coach? Try listening to Conway
and crew.

franno <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> spat:
Yeah, a lot of countries would, but they would still have non-medallists.
Note, that since 1991, Dennis Mitchell is the only non-HSI US sprinter who
has medalled in a major Championships.
In the past even with the existence of groups like SMTC and Speed City,
there were others outside of the groups who were the best in the world apart
from the Americans and a couple of people from the Caribbean.
Nowadays, the non-HSI people cannot make that claim.
By the way. How many of the world's top sprinters completed their years in
the American Division 1college system?
1. Maurice Greene no.
2. Ato Boldon yes, but coached by John Smith
3. Bruny Surin don't know but I did not know him in college
4. Dwaine Chambers no
5. Clad Da Silva no
6. Frank Fredrick yes, but he went to a mountain school
7. Obadele Thompson yes, but he went to a mountain school
8. Tim Montgomery no. He only went to Blinn
9. Jason Gardener no
10. Francis Obikwelu no
11. Donovan Bailey yes, but he was an accountant
12. Mark Lewis-Francis - still in British High school
There you have it. My scientific survey.
Sprinters of the world, if you want to succeed as a professional, stay the
hell away from the American College Coaches except John Smith and Dan Pfaf.
But then Dan coaches field events in College. Bubba Thornton is the sprint
coach!!!!
If you go to an American college, do one or all of the following
1. Leave early, very early. The earlier the better. The American D1
College system will kill you
2. Go to UCLA where John Smith is.
3. Attend UTEP, BYU or some other mountainous school.
4. Avoid Texas, California, the South and other traditional sprinting
hotbeds.

Stephen Francis
