---->I agree - the 10k distance might not be as desirable to some teams.  
But I remember that Paul Short used to be 10k and plenty of top teams still 
went.  Isn't Chile Pepper in Arkansas 10k as well?

The 8k distance is a bit more universal, it doesn't "mess" with training 
plans or tapers and it helps those teams with younger guys - don't know if 
they really need to run 3 10k's in one season.
