I thought the coverage of the meet was pretty good. I was in Europe for
three weeks during August and got to watch Zurich, Brussells, and a few
other meets on Eurosport, DSF adn other chanells. They basically all use the
same vidoe feed though. Anyway, it seemed as if the pot of gold jackpot was
almost played up too much last night. (just my opinion). One criticism --
more of a diff of opinion -- i felt Larry really blew it when he said it's
much easier for the sprinters to take golden league money home than the
distance runners. A distance runner has won every year. When is the last
time El Guerroujj or Haile lost a race. Maurice has lost twice this year.
Marion is just Marion - and almost lost to Inger a few weeks ago. whereas
for people like El G and Haile the win is usually a forgone conclusion --
you can tell because even when the pace slows most of the rest of the pack
still backs off as if they're afarid to get in the mix.

Two things that I've seen the Europeans use that are cheap and would hel the
viewer a lot are:
1) when they show each athlete at the starting line they also list on the
screen their seasonal best and yearly best. The other is that in the
distance races they let the clock keep going after the winner has crossed so
that you can see what time the others ran. Also when they show splits in the
distance races a graphic comes up to show how far behind ech of the next
runners are.

the praises I have is that they you guys didn't talk just to be talking. you
kept interviews short and to the point. the meet was quick and had a good
feel to it.

just my .02,

Kebba
