marathon:
Emil Zatopek CZE 2.23.03.2
 LOROUPE Tegla KEN 2:29:45

10K
 Emil Zatopek CZE 29.17.0
 LOROUPE Tegla KEN 30:37.26

What do you think spectators in Helsinki would have thought was the greater
feat? Zatopek's, or the tiny 100 lb Kenyan's?

By the way: Alain Mimoun, winner of the 1956 marathon in Melbourne in 2:25,
and runner up to Zatopek four years earlier in Helsinki in the 10K, would
not even have medalled in this year's women's marathon in Sydney. Two road
races Down Under, half a century apart.

I would call the women's performances even more amazing.

Cheers,
Elliott
