According to the information I have, Sonia won the Dublin Marathon in
2:35:42 (in fact, a commentator at the race stated, "with proper
preparations she is probably capable of running up to 15 minutes quicker.").
Be hard for even the talented O'Sullivan to do that if she ran 2:30.

The men's winner was Simon (not Jimmy) Pride, more reknowned for his
ultramarathon exploits, and was the 1999 IAU/WC 100-K winner.

Subject: RRW: Sonia O'Sullivan Wins Dublin Marathon

RRW Subscribers,

I had not planned to bring you the results of today's Dublin Marathon
--always held on Monday-- until next week. But at least one Irish news
service is reporting that Sonia O'Sullivan decided at the last minute to run
the race and won in 2:30:40, beating Theresa Duffy (2:37:37) and Marina
Piliavina of Russia (2:45:23).

O'Sullivan's decision to run a marathon on such short notice is startling,
especially a second tier race like Dublin. I would have expected her to
make an announcement months in advance, after a long negotiation for top
billing and a hefty appearance fee. That will probably precede her next
marathon.

Scotsman Jimmy Pride won the men's race in 2:18:59 ahead of defending
champion, John Mutai.
