Chris Sanders, now a wide receiver with the
Tennessee Titans, broke Jesse Owens' Ohio State long
jump record on Feb. 15, 1992, indoors at Ames, Iowa.
Sanders jumped 26-9 3/4 --- 1 1/2 inches beyond Owens'
record.
That's not the best mark ever by an NFL wide
receiver, though. Eric Metcalf (27-8 1/4) and James
Lofton (27-0) are No. 1 and No. 2 on the NFL LJ list.
