The University of California's Edwards Stadium / Goldman Field was
announced the Outstanding Facility Design and Construction award by the
U.S. Tennis Court and Track & Field Construction Association for 1999-2000.
Robert A. Bothman, Inc., was the contractor that directed the 3.5 million
dollar renovation that was completed in the fall of 1999. Jim Horner,
Campus Landscape Architect was the project manager for the University of
California.
An outstanding list of home meets will be conducted on the Berkeley campus
this spring. Cal is proud to host the PAC - 10 Track & Field Championships
at Edwards Stadium / Goldman Field for 2001. The PAC - 10 Heptathlon and
Decathlon will be on Saturday and Sunday May 12-13 with the remaining
events conducted on Saturday and Sunday May 19 & 20. UCLA, Washington, and
Washington State visit the Golden Bears for its home opener on March 17.
The annual Brutus Hamilton Invitational will highlight teams from USC, Ohio
State, Arizona on April 13 & 14. In addition, Cal hosts its annual all
comers meets every Saturday beginning January 20 and continue until March
3.
Unfortunately, Edwards Stadium will not host the California State High School
meet, because of lack of parking and poor restrooms.
