If a 1936 quartet could run 4 x 100 yards in 37.4 seconds, wonder what kind of number four ringers from, say, HSI, could put up? Even more intriguing, how fast do you think Maurice Greene could run a 100 yard dash these days? Given the right circumstances an 8.9 (8.8?) exhibition race by Mo could generate a fair amount of publicity. Sure it's not a "world record event", but with the USA's one-time long tradition of 100yard excellence I bet this would be the kind of thing even the more casual track fan could relate to.
