Track Listers,

There is a great cross country season underway in Europe. Charles Kamathi
and Paula Radcliffe won an extremely muddy contest in Sevilla last Sunday at
the 19th Cross de Italica. 2000 World Champion, Mohamed Mourhit of Belgium,
was fourth. On the same day Kenyan Daniel Gachara won the Cross
Ouest-France in Le Mans (Jon Brown was fifth), and Naomi Mugo led the women.
Also on Sunday, Paul Kosgei got another win at the Cross Della Vallagarina
in Villa Lagarina, Italy while Merima Denboba won the women's race. Kosgei
had also won the Cross Internacional Zornotza in Amorebieta (ESP), the Cross
di Oristano (ITA) and the Great North XC (GBR) this season.

The top meet this weekend will be the legendary Cross Internacional Memorial
Juan Muguerza in Elgoibar, which will be run for the 58th time. Key
athletes expected to compete include Paul Tergat, Jon Brown, Karl Keska,
Albert Chepkuri, Abraham Chebeii, Fatuma Roba, and Eyerusalem Kuma to name a
few.

This is one of only several outstanding distance running events which will
be held in Spain this weekend. There are several other cross country races
and two top half-marathons, including the Mitja Marato Granollers-La
Garriga, which already has over 4000 runners registered.

That is all.
