Evidently Trinidad junior long jumper Cleavon Dillon is attending high school this
year at Leavenworth Kans, High School. He was at an indoor meet in Manhattan on
Sunday jumping 7.53 or 24' 5 1/2".
Cleavon is listed on the IAAF website as having the longest windaided junior long
jump in the world last year with 8.09. His date of birth is listed as 5/10/82. He
competed for Trinidad in the world junior championships in Chile but didn't make the
final. He won the high school division of the Florida Relays last year while
attending Queens Royal College which evidently is a high school in Trinidad.
Apparently, his Dad is a member of the international class of officers attending the
Military Tactics College at Fort Leavenworth this year and the family is there also.
It was quite a sight to watch him jump after watching the typical 19-20' jumpers you
normally see in such meets. Kansas has no organized indoor season. Kansas State
University hosts a "high school meet" each winter for those individuals who continue
to train.
