You'd better be concerned about "saving a few successful meets."  Without those meets the sport in the U.S. would be in significantly worse shape.
 
The sport needs to constantly work on getting better, especially in the quality and presentation of competitions, but it must avoid actions that would damage what is successful now.

I greatly respect Scott's opinion, however I think if we want to generate more interest in the sport, we need to start thinking "outside the box."  Saving a few successful meets  should not be a deterrent to trying to make the sport much stronger.
