Please notice the fine effort by the Rice women in the 400 meter relay
(42.93).

Okay, before you all go crazy, let me try to explain. As an Owl
supporter, I attended the meet, but arrived just after the relay was
run. Apparently, there was a connection problem on the wiring for the
timing system at that point in the meet; as a result, that one race had
to be hand-timed. I asked around later, but no other person got another
result for the Rice women.

Liz Diaz had planned to run harder in the 800, but she told me
afterwards that she kind of fell asleep from about 350-600. Aimee
Teteris (Rice) took the lead at the 350, but lost it at 600 and could
not shift gears. Rice's Tanya Wright lost a shoe at about 350 and had
to drop.

Excellent effort by the flood of current and former Texas women in the
sprints, particularly in the 200.

Florence Ezeh (SMU) had 62.26 meters (204-03) in the hammer.
