GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) - Stacy Dragila was frustrated, Lawrence Johnson was
angry.

That was the general reaction to the experimental rules aimed at speeding up
track meets at the Oregon Track Classic on Sunday.

The athletes didn't like them, nor did the spectators.

"It went by so fast, I'm not even tired," Dragila, the Olympic gold medalist
and world record-holder in the women's pole vault, said after winning with a
meet record 14 feet, 9 1/2 inches. "I want to jump more, and it's
frustrating. I jumped 20 jumps in practice, and how many did I take today?
Four or five (six to be exact)? I'm not even warmed up yet. It lets you
leave empty-handed a little."
