The Irish Times June 28th, 2001 Olympic champion Noah Ngeny will meet world champion Hicham El Guerrouj in a rematch of last year's Sydney 1,500 metres final at the London grand prix on July 22nd. The race will be the first between the pair since the 2000 Games and meeting organisers said today it was the only clash scheduled before the Edmonton world championships in August. Kenyan Ngeny, who denied the Moroccan world record holder his first Olympic title over the last 30 metres at the 2000 Games, said he was looking forward to the race. "Racing against Hicham is always a huge challenge," he said from his training base in south-west London. "He has set the standards in middle distance running and I'm really looking forward to meeting him again and continuing our track rivalry." - Eamonn Condon www.RunnersGoal.com
