Paula Radcliffe ran 14:57 for an all-women's 5K in London today (2 Sept).
Tegla Loroupe was second in 15:25, Derata Tula third in 15:35. 20,000+ women
ran. The course was certified by Hugh Jones, who observed from the lead truck
and sent me this report. He noted that for the last half mile the women ran
longer than the measured distance. Coupled with Paula's impressive 10k run in
the New York Mini Marathon in May, it bodes well for her debut in the
marathon. Maybe she just needs a few hills to be able to beat the Africans.
