Netters:
I am a little confused by some of the responses to John Nepolitan's
post about the cancellation of a planned trip to a meet at Disneyworld by
the Don Bosco CC team
The decision made was entirely reasonable. It is one thing for an
individual to decide to fly at this time and quite another to take a group
of schoolboys on such a trip.
Compounding this is the fact that Don Bosco, like most of its NJ
counterparts, has no doubt suffered personal losses (alumni and parents) in
this tragedy., At Delbarton, the toll is now close to 20.
I can attest from a personal experience this summer---involving loss
to tickets rather than a cancellation---that the $100 fee is standard
procedure. This does not excuse the insensitivity of the airline in this
case, but at least indicates it is not an attempt to "cash in" at an
exorbitant rate.
