Hill named Athlete of the Week

        INDIANAPOLIS - Aretha Hill has been named USA Track & Field�s Athlete of
the Week after winning the women�s discus competition (61.28m/201-0) at the
Georgia Relays on Saturday in Athens, Georgia.
        In her second year as a volunteer assistant track and field coach at the
University of Tennessee, Hill won the competition by nearly 10 meters. A
1996 Olympian, Hill is a 1998 graduate of the University of Washington.
        Throwers dominated the weekend�s top outdoor performances, with Reese
Hoffa winning the men�s shot put (19.97m/65-6.25) and Jay Harvard winning
the men�s hammer throw (69.50m/228-1) at the Georgia Relays.  Nick Petrucci
threw 61.50m/ 201-9 in the men�s discus in Los Angeles and Dawn Ellerbe
threw 63.90m/209-8 to win the women�s hammer in Coral Gables, Florida.
        Now in its second year, USATF�s Athlete of the Week program is designed to
recognize performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree
each week and features the athlete on the USATF Web site. Selections are
based on top performances and results from the previous week.
