Muchuru and Kimani swapped the lead, with Lagat floating behind, as a pack of eight stayed tighly bunched until one lap to go. Kimani and Lagat quicked gapped the field. Lagat stayed on Kimani's shoulder until 200 to go, then put the hammer down. His time is a new meet and stadium record, breaking the old mark of 13:20.19 set by John Trautman in '92.
