Assistant Women's Track & Field Coach - Miami (Ohio) University has a position opening for a full-time, 12 month assistant track coach. The position is combined with teaching in the Physical Education Department. Duties will include teaching activity classes (tennis, basketball, strength training, etc.). Approximately salary is $25,000 with full benefits.

Major Responsibilities:
- coach the following areas: pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump and assist the head coach with the sprints, and hurdles. There must be the desire and ability to work with all events;

- serve as the assistant recruiting coordinator which includes traveling to high school contests, making home visitations, coordinating NCAA initial
eligibility/Clearinghouse, and working with the Office of Admission;

- coordinate, under direction of head coach the fall track & field program which includes all non-distance athletes (approximate number 30);

- serve as liaison for strength training program with Strength & Conditioning staff which includes ensuring strength training program is applicable to cross country/track athletes;

- coordinate home meet management which includes securing volunteer and paid officials and working with Supervisor of Grounds to prepare facilities;

- assist with all travel arrangements for the cross country/track program;
- other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics.


Miami University competes in the Mid American Conference which is comprised of: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Ohio University, Toledo, and Western Michigan. There are conference championships in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field.

The cross country team has an on-campus practice/competition course which runs throughout the Western Campus of the university. The outdoor track facility is a 10-lane, Rekotan surface with 3 long jump pits, 2 javelin approaches, 3 discus/hammer cages, and 2 shot put circles, all contained within the track facility.

Required Qualifications: bachelors degree, coaching experience in the pole vault, high jump, triple jump/long jump, excellent oral and written abilities, a professional approach to coaching at an academically select institution. Desired Qualifications: masters degree, collegiate coaching experience in the high jump/long & triplejumps, and pole vault
