"Mr. Pugh became track and field coach at the University of British Columbia in 1964, transforming a mediocre program into one of the best in the land. UBC teams won 25 Canada West titles in cross-country running and track and field during his 23-year tenure. As well, 14 of his student athletes would compete at the Olympics."
