Willingboro HS senior Mike Morrison cleared 7-4 1/4 (2.24) at the Nike Invitational in Landover, Md., today and had one very near miss at Gail Olson's fabled national record of 7-5 (2.26) when the bar didn't fall at 7-5 1/4 (2.27) until Mike was off the mat with his hands in the air.
Morrison was clean at 6-9, 6-11, 7-0 3/4, 7-2 1/2 and 7-4 1/4. He also won the long jump with 24-0 1/2 (about 2 1/2 feet off the school record). On Friday, Morrison won the high jump in New York at the National Scholastic Indoors with 7-3 3/4 (2.23). He was clean until three misses at 2.24. Mike now has 28 career high school 7-0 clearances.
