Yesterday, I wrote,

"Has anyone found a site that gives results of the Modesto Relays? The event website seems good in listing schedules and entrants, but doesn't seem to have any link to results."

"An alternative source would be appreciated."

Quick responses from Mike Takaha, Karen Locke, and Scott St. Pierre confirm, again, my belief that the t-and-f subscriber's list is a far better resource than any print medium.

The reason I wrote was that the Modesto vault fields seemed the strongest so far for the outdoor season. The results, especially for the women, agree. There's something of a snafu in the middle of the women's scoresheet, where Kelsie Hendry is shown as 4th with 4.10m, although there are Kellie Suttle and Chelsea have higher marks. If I correct that, the women's results would be:

1 Jillian Schwartz 4.55m
2 Mary Sauer 4.45m
3 Dana Ellis-Buller 4.35m
4 Kellie Suttle 4.25m
5 Chelsea Johnson 4.25m
6 Kelsie Hendry 4.10m
6 Tracy O'Hara 4.10m
6 April Steiner 4.10m

Jillian's 4.55 (14' 11") keeps her in first place in the 2005 world rankings, improving on her 4.43 last week at Drake. Mary's 4.45 gains clear second ranking, Kellie ranks third with an earlier 4.41, and Canadian Ellis-Buller drops one place to fourth in the world list.

Top men's results:

1 Toby Stevenson 5.85m
2 Russ Buller 5.75m
3 Tim Lobinger 5.65m
4 Derek Miles 5.56m
5 Jeff Hartwig 5.65m
6 Nick Buckfield 5.50m

Toby's 5.85 (19' 2 1/4") moves him to third place on Mirko Jalava's world list <tilastopaja.net>, where Australia's Paul Burgess remains the leader at 6.00m. Buller moves to eighth, Derek to thirteenth and Jeff to fourteenth. German Lobinger drops one spot to fifth with 5.80 in an earlier meet, and Brit Buckfield opens at #27.

Again, thanks to subscribers who came to my aid, when the meet website didn't post results.

Cheers,
Roger
