Hi all, today a question about the (not building) mini-live-kde target reminded me on a discussion I just had last week with Lars and Valentin.
The mini-live-kde "target" was just a quick cut'n paste to demonstrate how to quickly come up with a target re-use other targets in a 5 min educational talk in IRC. Noone ever really used or maintained it, and thus I wiped it just some minutes ago. However Lars pointed out that the desktop target would be even more interesting for a wider audience if there would be moe variants available: Gnome, Xfce, E17 et al. and ad the end we and Valentin agreed that a Scientific flavour (less GUI, more functions like: Octave, TeX, ...) would also be a real value. That said we're reading package preselection templates as we have for the generic target, but for the desktop target as well. As already listed package selection themes for Gnome, Xfce, E17 and Scientific work- staions will be added, shortly. Comments welcome.
