And by tooltips, are you referring to the dojo tooltip widget?
I'm confident both situations are very doable, ...i'm checking how it's done with dojo's tooltip widget now..
Yep, it's very easy. If you are using the tacos tree you would just modify the span (or div) tag that you are using to render each tree node and add the attribute "dojoType=tooltip", also making sure you add " dojo.require("dojo.widget.html.Tooltop");" somewhere in a script block.
