Heheheheh no wories hope you had a nice rest.

I'm not using the Subversion version :-) but the one published on sourceforge, that may be the reason, I'll check it out and let
you know how I get on.

Hi Yiannis, sorry for the delay, we were on a holiday here in Canada.  Queen Victoria Day...  I have absolutely no idea why we keep celebrating it, but I get paid to stay at home, so I don't complain.

I looked at your problem and I don't see why it doesn't work.  I've check in the auto completer demo and can't find the div you are talking about.  Which tacos version are you using ?  Maybe you should try with the version in Subversion (that's the one I am using)  I will try to reproduce the problem tonight in the train.

Hey Frederic, bored of me yet?:)

I think that I *may* have reached a stalemate as to my attempt with
this. I've made it so that differed id are assigned to
the elements that need to be updated and the autocompleter. When I click
on the link, it changes to the autocompleter.
However, the autocompleter will not work, and _javascript_ errors are
issued. Looking at the differences between a fully
rendered autocompleter and the one emmited by my attempts, I discovered
that the following is missing

<div id="Autocompletercomplete" class="auto_complete" style="display:
none;"/>
<div id="Autocompleter_0complete" class="auto_complete" style="display:
none;"/>

and so on, for as many autocompleters you may have.

I can only think of two things.

Can AjaxDirectLink refresh the entire body? This may generate the
missing elements

Should autocompleter be modified so that these elements are emmited at
the location
of the autocompleter....failing that perhaps a new InlineAutoComplete
component is required.

Thank you for your patience and insight,

Yiannis

I've never used the PartialFor before, so I cannot help you with this
one. If you are using a regular For, I don't think you can refresh only
a part of it.  Like I said, check what's in the demo, this should work.

        Oh I see! I didn't really consider this (yet) as I am testing on
a For which produces a single result...However, since there is only one

entirely wrong?

        Thank you Frederic,

                Hi Yiannis,

                It's because that when you put your Any component inside
the For, you end up with multiple html elements having the same id.  Ids
are supposed to be unique in an HTML document.  You have to specify a
unique id for each row and in the updateComponent of the link put this
unique id.  Check in the demo for an example how to do this.  This is in
the page EffectsExample.

                        Hello Frederic,

                        I've got a quick question about the
updateComponent parameter..When i
                        set the updateComponent element inside the cell
that I wish to alter to
                        the autocompleter, nothing seems
                        to happen, however when the element is enclosing
the table everything is
                        ok. Obviously, if I want to use more than one of
these , I can't do it
                        this way...This is what I've got at the moment
                        (which doesn't seem to do anything)
                        <td>

                            <span jwcid="@Any" id="clientUpdate">

                                <span jwcid="@If"
condition="ognl:!clientClicked">

                                    <a jwcid="@tacos:AjaxDirectLink"

                                        <span
jwcid="client">Client</span>

                                    </a>

                                </span>

                                <span jwcid="@If"
condition="ognl:clientClicked">

                                    <a jwcid="@tacos:AjaxDirectLink"
                        updateComponents="ognl:{'clientUpdate'}"
                        listener="listener:clientClick">

                                        <div class="note"><span
class="auto_complete"
                        jwcid="clientAutoCompleter"/></div>

                                    </a>

                                </span>

                            </span>

                        </td>

                        If I move  <span jwcid="@Any" id="clientUpdate">
to enclose the table ,
                        it works ok...any suggestions?

                        Thanks,

                        Yiannis.

                        Hi Yannis,

                        I don't think you could make this with an
InlineEditBox (even if it's
                        the same behavior), so I would try to use a ajax
direct link that
                        changes a boolean property of the page.  In the
template, you add
                        conditions that either shows the link or the
auto completer depending on
                        the boolean value.  Make sure the
updateComponent of the direct link
                        surrounds the conditionals.  Something like :

                        <span jwcid="@Any" id="updated">
                            <span jwcid="@If" condition="ognl:!clicked">

                                <a jwcid="@tacos:AjaxDirectLink"
                        updateComponent="ognl:{'updated'}"
listener="listener:click">Click
                        here!</a>
                            </span>
                            <span jwcid="@If" condition="ognl:clicked">
                                <span jwcid="@tacos:Autocompleter"/>
                            </span>
                        </span>

                        There is a lot of parameters missing, but you
get the idea.  In the java
                        class, you would have a boolean property named
clicked and a method
                        click() that would just set the property from
false to true.  Voila.

                        Frederic
