I've got a DojoComboBox component working internally, but it isn't using tacos mechanisms to do the ajax lookup (yet) purely because we didn't have time, so we just implemented a custom service to send back JSON data. I wasn't planning to replace tacos:Autocompleter, but I think you might find it added to tacos sometime in the fairly near future.
