disableFlashStorage: true fixes the problem in Safari. The regular 0.3.1
version from the dojo site also works so I guess we just need this if we
are using the kitchen sink profile.

That's not true... the 4.0.0 release has dojo0.3.1 - kitchen sink
profile.

What happens when you add
disableFlashStorage: true
in your djConfig ?

Opera had the same issue, this solved it.
We've also made this change at the demo site
http://opencomponentry.com:8080/tacos/
so you could try safari there - though it seems to be down for the
moment.
