Why does it matter if it's hollow on the inside? That's just a
consequence of what material is used. Unless you're suggesting that
anything metal is a tower, not a pole, in which case we should use a
material=* tag.

I also find that the tower examples are larger.

Pylon is not a common term to me; it seems to be the same as tower.

The thing in the middle is a pole. Again, it's only not a "pure" pole
because of the material used.
