it makes perfect sense, and is entirely consistent with current usage.
i'd add
a line or two to the wiki to reinforce the usage.

What about using operator in leisure=stadium?. For example, in
Argentina the stadium belongs to a Club (the operator). The stadiums
have names too.
Example:
leisure=stadium
sport=soccer
operator=Club Atlético Boca Juniors
name=Alberto Armando
I read the description of operator and should work.
