Recently I noticed the speed cameras I've been adding a few years ago at
exactly the positions they are (next to the street of couse, lest drivers
would bump into them) have become part of the highways.

So I'm in the process of correcting that once again. I also corrected the
wiki. Now it's up to the developers of OsmAND to properly use the node with
the from role from the enforcement relation as it was meant to be used.
Otherwise the users of this great software will not be very happy, when
they don't get warnings anymore, due to a faulty implementation wrt the way
information is converted between our way of tagging and their
representation of it.

If it's too hard to work with those relations, it will be necessary to make
an interpolation from the camera to the highway to determine a virtual node.

Those enforcement relations were invented years ago because when one adds a
speedcam as a node on the way, one can't know in what direction it's
pointing and for which direction of traffic a warning is needed.

I consider what has happened here as an unfortunate step backwards, causing
information loss.

Another problem we have is that some users who are using OSMAND like
osmand_pieter don't respond to messages we send them about the faults in
their way of tagging. It's not clear whether this is related to OSMAND
itself.

I also didn't try with iD yet. Hopefully this is not something caused by
that editor.
