Hi Andrew, in my opinion, this combination is describing it best : natural=water water=pond in case it's man_made <https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key%3Aman_made>, it should be tagged like this. (the person who wrote "man-made in most cases" possibly talks about the central park ;-) )
Regarding "the process for working out if this is the best choice", I also assumed there should be something like a "code of conduct", but it seems there isn't something unambiguous : On 09-Mar-17 10:48 PM, Martin Koppenhoefer wrote: There are a some references to tagging here: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Any_tags_you_like https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Verifiability https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Joto/How_to_invent_tags https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Duck_tagging https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tagging Cheers, Thilo "All the really stressful times for me have been about process.
