Agreed that there is no need to specially mark the street parallel to the tracks. But at cross streets, there is still an intersection that could be meaningful.

And even though it is implied by the highway crossing, the intersection can still be called out explicitly for routers to save them a processing step - for example, an intersection between a railway and foot path can be detected, but even so it is standard convention to mark as railway=crossing
