That's easily feasible. operator=*, route=* (= means of transportation), ref=*, name=*, from=*, via=*, to=* (and a possible course=* tag for rush hour, evening, weekend etc. courses) could be combined however you want. This has the advantage that it's more flexible than a pre-formatted and thus static route description.
