I know this is a very old joke, but The first time I went on the London Underground, I saw a sign saying 'dogs must be carried'. I then spent half an hour looking for a dog. More seriously that tag does make sense. The sign is used on escalators on the London Underground so imagine it applies on escalators elsewhere. Phil (trigpoint)
