I stopped being lame here and grokked that I don't have to build all the subproject sites to build the site. It's incredibly easy (and is now 'ant clean site'). I've updated the site, both to adjust the big list of projects to be deprecated now, to clean up lots of duplication and an over the top front page, and to get rid of the (1.1) bits that tended to just cause confusion.

Done. I haven't updated the build system - as far as I know things should still build, the deprecated stuff just won't be present. Saving cleaning this up for the future.
I'm happy to volunteer on these. Wouldn't say no to another volunteer though :)
