wow, i don't know how i missed this either.  clearly i need to stay more
on top of my changelogs :)

looks like cryptsetup still won't be able to create truecrypt volumes,
though.

the main advantage of tcplay seems to be volume creation.

i agree that a udisks-integrated solution is the right long-term
approach.  sorry i don't have any suggestions for who might want to work
on it!
