Hi,

this was discussed on the tails-dev mailing-list recently (thread:
"What to do with Firefox 17.0.11ESR?"), and it seems clear that nobody
has time to prepare an ISO and manage the release, so likely there
will be no such interim release unfortunately.

> From now to the next version upgrade of Tails, what should users do?

We have no better *supported* short-term solution to offer than Tails
0.21 currently, so users should go on doing what is advertised and
documented on our website.

On the other hand, if you feel like it, we have 17.0.11esr .deb
packages ready to be used in there:

  deb http://deb.tails.boum.org/ feature-torbrowser-17.0.11esr main

... but they did not go through our quality assurance processes and
won't get any support from our team => use at your own risks.

Long-term, the best a user can do is probably to join us and
contribute to the project, so that it gets stronger and next time,
hopefully, we have time for a bonus unscheduled release (like we've
been able to do a few times in the past). No effort is too small and
whatever you bring to this community will be appreciated:

Note that one of our main goals for Tails 2.0 is to create the tools
and infrastructure needed to make it easier to handle this kind of
problematic situations:

We know we're weak on this side, and we've been working on it for
a year or so.

> Is it safe to continue using Tails 0.21?

There's no such thing as "safe" vs. "not safe", so I'm afraid I cannot
answer this question, and you should assume that anyone who dares
answering it with that little detailed input can't be serious. It all
depends on your usecases, your threat model, and what you're comparing
Tails 0.21 to.

Cheers,
