This would be the sort of thing to report a bug to us about, however, we
may not want to divert too much energy on Claws Mail in Tails because...

... we're planning to move to Icedove (yay!), and that energy is likely

I feel tempted to say yes. Given the awesome work done by the Torbirdy
people, Icedove + Torbirdy in Tails likely is better than our current
Claws Mail integration. I worry about users trying to set it up
themselves, though. While it should be as easy as documented on the
ticket, comment 13 [0], they'd pretty much need to use our Additional
Software persistence feature [1] and adding a custom persistence
configuration for ~/.icedove, which is a bit complex. I suppose you
providing a step-by-step guide (and preferably also directing support
questions to you) would be a good stopgap until we're done with
integrating Claws into Tails. At least that's my personal opinion.
