Thank you for your reply. As my computer is 9 years old, it doesn't
support UEFI only PheonixBIOS so I will have to use this older version
of tails until I can replace this machine. The original O/S was Vista
Home Premium 32bit.

I have tried tails on two USB sticks of different manufacture and get
the same results with both.
Have you tried UFEI boot?
When you press F1-F12 (to get to boot menu) try looking for a heading called
UFEI and select the USB from there.
2) When the tails starts - before the login - the language shown at the
bottom of the screen is English (US) can I change this permanently to
start in English (UK)
I don't know.
3) Being in the UK, we are now on British Summer Time (Zulu +1) but when
the clock synchronizes it does so to Zulu time and I cannot change it as
the system is locked.
How do I get it to show the correct time when it boots?
I think that tails is designed to get Zulu time and display it as the standard
time. It helps preserve anonymity as all tails devices are all displaying
sending the same time stamp. Same reason tor sends that it's windows nt. Make
it harder to differentiate between devices.
