Version of Tails trying to start: Tails 2.3 ISO image verified via Tails recommended commands Brand/Model of computer Intel CPU/MB/GPU + 4GB memory available of 8GB total Tails boots up from USB stick (created using Tails Installer via Tails 2.2) No other computer available to boot Tails with same USB stick
My boot up consists of the following steps (used for every release of Tails so far): 1. plugin Tails USB and push desktop tower power-on button 2. Tails would boot up without my network router turned on (as it always has) 3. I would set the admin password, and login using the sudo -i command as root 4. I would mount my hard drive and copy text files to ~amnesia/Desktop as .filenames, i.e. no changes to working code of Tails 2.3 involved. 5. I would set the system clock with a date -u MMDDHHmm format for UTC time with an atomic watch I wear on my wrist. 6. I would then turn on my network router, get a local connection to my ISP with the new Mac address, then Tor would sync up the system clock, and then I would get a message that Tor was ready to use. With Tails 2.3, I select System Tools -> Settings -> Network and then select eth0. Tails 2.3 never gets a local connection to my ISP and stays in the state as cable unplugged - which is not true, i.e. no cable is unplugged. With previous releases of Tails, I was able to see the system change its state to acknowledge that there was a live local connection with the eth0 wired line device. My network settings should be set to get a dhcp connection - are they, and why does not turning on my router generate Tails recognizing that it then should be getting the local connection with the new Mac address to my ISP, and then pass it on to Tor for syncing the system clock? How do I verify my network settings to establish that everything is setup to work properly? What system commands as root can I issue from a Terminal command line window that would resolve this problem? Maybe dhclient, pausing/restarting Tor, and then verifying that onion circuits are able to be built and work with the Tor Browser once that everything is live, up and working (which I can do by clicking on the onion circuit icon/path)? I just need the admin commands to release and reissue the dhclient commmand and then pause/restart Tor afaik. _______________________________________________ tails-support mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-support To unsubscribe from this list, send an empty email to [email protected].
