Hello,
I plugged in 3 beta and have whisperback report, however, when trying to
encrypt it through the menu it hangs and needs a force quit, after which the
menu item dissappears.
what works and does not work on the trekstore surftab twin:
- grub is 32 bit (normal) and screen right side up
- after grub the creen rotates upside down
- the login screen is upside down: REQUEST: can the login screen have a simple
button to rotate the display. The button would trigger the simple command to
rotate the screen.
- the login screen keyboard selector is picky. you have to select the language,
and then scroll down to the appropriate keyboard. REQUEST: Instead of filtering
by language, allow listing by country.
- the two finger scrolling goes in the opposite direction from version 2.12 and
earlier. REQUEST: make 2 finger scrolling again the waz it was before.
- making and using persistence works, but can not test wifi and keyboard is not
persistent.
- keyboard is not persistent: REQUEST: make keyboard persistent
- disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard works
- touchscreen works, though erratic behviour. It would need extensive
calibration and for the calibration to be made persistent, or other drivers.
- the trackpad is erratic. it could use calibration and calibration made
persistent, or other drivers.
- sd card slot crashes/freezes computer, it is listed in bios as "MS CUSTOM
SDBUS DRIVER" it would need a driver. it being listed in bios creates the
potential opportunity to make the sd card slot bootable if the OS has the right
drivers.
- the wifi needs additional firmware to work, can installing this firmware and
driver be made "persistent", and how. I dont quite understand how I should
attempt this.
- restarting does not work on beta 3 while it works on 2.12. (this is on all my
machines by the way). it shows the page to unplug the usb, then screen goes
black while the machine stays on.
- shut down works flawlessly (also on all my other machines)
Please, make the scrolling the way it was in 2.12, it is just horrible this way
...
I can send whisperback once I am back on a 2.12 key, as in 3 encryption crashes.
My ultimate goal is find a cheap sub $150 machine bought new whith wifi working
and sd card booting.

Thanks for reporting back.
Happy to know that this line helps. I don't think there currently is a
way to make this persistent.
It looks like this problem is linked to the X server somehow.
I don't remember if you tried this using Tails 3.0 beta 4 or if you are
using Tails 2.12? If the latter, can you try to use the beta and see if
it works better? https://tails.boum.org/news/test_3.0-beta4/index.en.html

Great!

Not sure what this is due to, but I'm happy to know the touchscreen
works at all.

If you do just `lspci` or `lsusb`, what do you get?

You can send this to [email protected]. Here is the OpenPGP
key for this address:

Sorry, I guess I'm too old fashioned.
Try with `sudo journalctl -f` ?
Thanks & cheers!
