One of them could start using Mapillary and show it during their weekend. Mapillary can be learned without a teacher and is an easy stepstone to bigger things next year.

But we don't want them to work too hard. So we want more volunteers. It will look good on your resumé, and it will make you officially OSM. You don't have to volunteer all three days, and a couple of shifts is enough. This is a very valuable opportunity, as it would allow to build ties with them, which could lead them to share their GPX with us for mapping. This in turn would help the French OSM community, who are now not even allowed to map GR routes from surveys. Politics aside, GR people are an excellent recruiting ground, as they are interested in maps and have a passion for paths and routes. One little detail: their weekend is exactly when the State of the Map is in Brussels. So most people who could go to a thing like this will be there. If you have been waiting for an opportunity to get more involved in OSM-be, this is it! Below the original message. Please contact Mathieu (mgwebm...@fastmail.fm) for more info. Inviting them to SotM won't work either, as this involves a price tag. Inviting them to the Mapathon on Thursday evening might work for some who live near to Brussels, if they're interested in mapping in general, but mapping routes/itineraries in a well mapped area is rather different from mapping buildings/roads in virgin territory.
