Hi Steve, Thanks for updating the bulk_import.pl script. I downloaded perl and installed it, so i think (from my readings) that it's just like JAVA where you enter in the text at the command prompt. .. And so, to save time typing, i create a .bat file to enter in all the commands 1 after another in sequence ie. moving files and renaming files and creating directories all as part of the routeen. - a program in it's self. That's what canvec2osm.bat is anyway :)
I haven't got to the point of actually uploading a test OSM file, as im still working on fixing the rules.txt file adding in all the 'canvec:entity' 'canvec:entity_description' and 'canvec:value' canvec:value_description' tags for each of the 300 features. (My actual work got in the way of my free time to work on this ;-( Dout!! Have you been able to get sample areas for each province done? (with the new addition of the stats can road names?) And so, for the area of Southwestern Ontario where GeoBase roads data has aleady been imported (as well as Quebec) and perhaps other places too. I imagine that running the script again would automatically sence that roads already exist (from the pulled OSM file) and then just add in names where it sees none. I think just 1 test area for each province should be enough, so then the community and pick.. and complain :-) at it, (so to make minor modifications) I would also recommend that all those who are interested in actually running the geobase2osm script make their voice heard and shown on the Wiki, so progress can be tracked. I imagine that it will be the same process for the canvec2osm script. .. accept without the Automatch and only 'bulk importing' those files that are too big for JOSM, but only after throughly viewing the data in JOSM comparing it with existing data 1st. ... and so, all those who are interested in actually running the canvec2osm script, please add your name to the canvec wiki page. So then i would know who to directly keep in contact with. ... again, like i said before, i can have others working on the script at the same time using Google Docs. .. and for the GeoBaseNHN, yup im leaning more towards using more of the CanVec data than GeoBaseNHN, ... mainly due to the file size (the waterbody & rivers are very heavy, and do not make that much of a difference) .. but still, im finding a way not to miss any features that could be useful :0) That's all for now, i'll get back to you and the list after i finished fixing up the rules.txt and getting this bulk_import.pl sample area loaded. Now that OSM 0.6 is all good :-) Cheers, Sam Vekemans Across Canada Trails Twitter @acrosscanada Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Victoria-BC/Across-Canada-Trails/36142547420?ref=ts
