Those are on CFB Suffield. They are actually gravel roads that acted as 
distance markers for the old bomb tests they used to carry out back in 
the 60's and 70's, spaced out from the target zone. From my 
understanding they used to do a lot of tests related to how far out 
damage occurred from various ordnance being detonated, so they'd place 
the test sensors along those roads for easy access but being able to 
know exactly how far things were without measuring every time.
