I looked at the road in question (Drobot Place) and it doesn't look like
it has been traced from Google as the bends are slightly different at
the maximum zoom. The person may have recorded the GPX trace, put in
the road but didn't take a photo of the street sign, so they looked up
the street name in Google Maps and did not cross check it with other
maps on the web.

I drive or bike all of the roads in the area in which I live, take
photos of the street signs and then either convert those GPX traces into
actual ways, or simply trace over them manually. I often trace over the
GPX tracks when I do an out and back route and the traces differ a
little within the accuracy of my Garmin 76CSx unit (heavy forest, rain,
mountains, power lines or other signal attenuating or distorting
effects). Under these circumstances, I average the tracks. I don't
upload my GPX tracks.

I put in information that I have recorded personally and not from other
sources and then upload it to OSM. On occasion, I have biked on new
roads that have just been built by a developer, but still closed to the
public as they have yet to be finished. Such roads would not appear on
any of the major maps such as Google, Yahoo, MapQuest, MSN etc. Such
roads may not yet be publicly available on city property maps and would
unlikely be on any of the satellite imagery as there is often a year or
so time lag between image updates. Likewise for aerial photographs.

It is possible that the persons decision to rely on Google for the
street name is a simple error in judgement rather than intentionally
copying Google.
