If you leave the "snap to road" function enabled in the GPS, you can
conceivably be violating copyright law. If the map database in the GPS
is protected under copyright, and you are recording GPS data that is
being "corrected" by the GPS engine to "snap to the road", then you
are copying road location information based on the map data, NOT the
GPS data.

This is equivalent to using Google Maps as a background in Potlatch
and tracing the road network.
